Penile Fracture
Broken Penile ,in the medical language penile fracture is a rupture of corpus cavernosumwhich allows erection of the penis with the blood filled through as a result ofastrike. The most important symptom of penis fracture is bruising, deformity and swelling of the penis.
Normally, there are three cylindrical structures in the penis. These are two spongy tissues whichis called the corpus cavernosum that cause the erection of the penis by the blood supply andone spongy tissuecorpus spongiosumin whichthe urethra passes through.
Penile fracture occurs when the corpus cavernosum is filled with blood while the penis is in an erection. Fracture cannot be seen in a soft penis. Corpus spongiosum can also be damaged and urinary canal injury may occur at the same time according to the severity of the strike.
Penile fracture often occurs due to difficult sexual intercourse, falling from bed onto erected penis, can be seen by forcing the penis by masturbation or sexual intercourse. During sexual intercourse, penis fracture occurs mostly during hard movements in the position of the partners on the top.
Penile fracture is usually seen in 35-40 years of age. In general, patients consult an emergency doctor. A similar sound is heard and a penile pain, sudden softening, bruising and swelling occur. In cases where the urinary tract is injured, blood from the penis tip, bloody urine, decrease in urine flow or incontinence may occur. Diagnosis is usually made by examination in patients with penile fractures.
What is the Treatment of Penile Fracture?
If there is a suspicion of penile fracture, an urologist should be urgently consulted. As a result of the examinations and tests, after the diagnosis of penis fracture, medical treatment or surgery is performed according to the degree of fracture in the penis.
In case of swelling and curvature of the penis in the examination of the patient, surgery is usually performed. In case of bleeding from the end of the penis and inability to urinate, urinary tract injury should be thought and surgery should be made.
If there is no swelling and no curvature in the penis but the voice and the pain is heard, in this case the patient should be followed by bandage and medication.
Tissues torn during surgery will be repaired, if there is an injury in the veins, these veins should be replanted under a microscope. If there is an injury in the urine, the injured area should be repaired.
